Miss River Raisin Festival 2009
Erinn Hendricks

Erinn Hendricks, Miss River Raisin Festival, lives her platform: "BE GREAT! Boys and Girls Clubs of America." As education director for Boys and Girls Club of Toledo, Ohio, where she attends the University of Toledo, and formerly as programming director at Boys and Girls Club of Lenawee, she encourages young people to realize their potential for greatness on a daily basis.

Erinn, an Adrian native, is a graduate of Lenawee Christian High School, and is pursuing a self-designed bachelors degree in Human Development with Business Emphasis in her career quest to become an administrator of a Boys and Girls Club.

Her goal is to demonstrate to people of every race and age that we have boundless opportunities to BE GREAT! within all facets of our lives.

“Children are the heart of my platform — and that of the Children’s Miracle Network, which is the Miss America Organization national platform. But both programs need support, investment and participation from people of all ages and all walks of life. My passion is that all children realize their potential to BE GREAT!

Each of us, young to old, can choose to be a leader, choose to believe and choose to be the change. I have seized this opportunity as Miss River Raisin Festival to motivate each person to BE GREAT!

“I choose to channel my passion specifically into Boys and Girls Clubs of America because clubs provide a safe refuge and a constant, as well as a level playing field for children from all backgrounds and all societal levels. The program teaches children how to resolve conflict peacefully amidst diversity, which all adults face in real life. “What touches me about my work is the love the kids generate. At the end of the day, yes, we completed homework, achieved educational growth, made new friends, had fun, etc., but every child remembers the love you have for them and they have for you. I can't think of a place that guarantees such genuine love. These kids are blunt about how they really feel and think. I can't count the number of times I've been told, ‘Miss Erinn, I love you’...followed by a ‘do you love me?’ As anyone who has volunteered, worked, or been a BGCA donor will attest, the love and thankfulness of these children touches our core.”

Erinn will represent the River Raisin Festival and all of Lenawee County at the Miss Michigan Pageant June 16-19 in Muskegon where she will present a contemporary dance to "Hold Your Dream," as her talent. She chose the song because of its illustration and support of her platform.
